Spring has finally arrived here in the Northeast so it’s time to get serious about the family reunion. The dates of the reunion are August 9-11, 2013. It is going to be a repeat of the last reunion.
I have reserved a block of rooms at the Sheraton Long Island in Hauppauge under the Cote Family name. The rate is $139 plus taxes and you must make your reservation before July 9 to get the group rate. As before, you must call to make your own reservations. You are free to look to third party internet sites to find lower rates but be advised that it may not have the same value as your special group rate. You may not be able to count on the availability or flexibility of these occasionally discounted channels, whereas you can always count on your group block inventory, and flexibility of changing and/or canceling. The group rate is available for the nights of August 8, 9, 10, and 11 in case you want to extend your stay.
We will begin the weekend with a pizza and bowling party on Friday evening, August 9. We will again be hosted by the AMF Bowling Center in Commack, NY. It is located at 2183 Jericho Turnpike, a short hop away from the Sheraton Hotel. One price of $20 will include free shoes, two hours of bowling, one pizza per lane, and a pitcher of soda. An A La Carte menu and bar service is available for additional cost.
On Saturday, August 10, we will gather at Belmont Lake State Park for a family picnic. It will be catered by Dover Caterers, the exclusive caterers to the Long Island New York State Parks. We have chosen the original BBQ menu which includes:
BBQ Chicken
Hebrew National Hotdogs
100% Angus Hamburgers
Long Island Corn on the Cob
Crispy Cole Slaw
Potato Salad
Watermelon
Assorted Soft Drinks/Bottled Water/Ice
All Necessary Condiments and Fixing Bar
The only thing not provided is alcoholic beverage. I have purchased a permit so you are welcome to bring your own cooler of beer or wine.
The cost per person will be $50 (for ages 10 and above) or $40 for children ages 3 to 10.
After our day at the Park, we can continue to visit back at the Sheraton Hotel. There is a lobby gathering area as well as a bar and two restaurants. For those who are guests of the hotel there is also the pool area in which to gather.
The hotel restaurants provide a good place to meet for breakfast and say farewell before we all head home again. Or you may wish to extend your visit to include a day at the beach or in the city.
But now, please let me know that you are coming. You can send me your check as soon as you are able. That’s $50 per person ($40 per child) for the picnic and $20 per person for the bowling party.
